Cretaceous Rifting in the geological history of the Ukrainian Sector of the Black Sea

Within the Ukrainian sector of Black Sea, Albian-Cenomanian rift faults formed three large basins, which consisted a system grabens and half-grabens. One sublatitude basins occupied modern Karkinit Trough, Krylov-Zmiiny Uplift, Gubkin Ridge Sulina Depression on Odesa Shelf. The second basin Tetyaev High, Sorokin Marine Continuation Crimean Folds and, apparently, Mountains. third extended from northwest to southeast encompassed Euxinian Graben, Andrusov Ridge, Eastern Sea Basin, Shatskiy High. greatest depth base sequence is observed in central part Western where it 15.5—16.5 km. In basin, maximum 12.5—13.5 shallowest are characteristic Kalamit Swell Folds. During Cenozoic phases compression, almost all (half)grabens under- went intense folding vertical movements several hundreds meters 4—5 At same time, most underwent partial or complete inversion.
